Siddhidātrī is the ninth form of the Goddess Durga, the meaning of her name is as follows: Siddhi means supernatural power or meditative ability, and Dhatri means giver or awarder.
She is worshipped on the ninth day of Navaratri; she fulfills all the divine aspirations and completes the mundane. It is believed that one side of Lord Shiva’s body is that of Goddess Siddhidātrī. Therefore, he is also known by the name of Ardhanarishwar. According to Vedic scriptures, Lord Shiva attained all the siddhis by worshiping this Goddess. Her favourite colour is peacock green and favourite flower is the Champa. She rules over the planet Ketu.
This four-armed avatar of Devi Siddhidātrī clad in a red saree is seen sitting on a lotus flower. She is also seen mounted on a lion. She is depicted holding a Gada (mace) in her upper right hand, chakra in her lower right hand, a lotus flower or trishul in her lower left hand and a conch-shell in her upper left hand. It is said that one can even see a disc of light around her golden crown. This light is believed to instill devotion in the heart of devotees towards the Supreme Power and liberation from karmic bindings. Goddess Siddhidātrī bestows occult powers on her worshipers and is therefore revered by beings from all three realms i.e. heaven, hell and earth.
Siddhidatri grants you all types of auspicious results/strengths known as Siddhi. Siddhis are unmatched strengths in terms of different types of mastery that help you walk through the austere spiritual path effortlessly with His grace. Siddhis are of different types, from attaining exceptional intelligence to supernatural powers, but those who fall into the trap of powers live a limited life and remain deprived of liberation. Siddhis are not the ones that a sadhaka should worry too much, whether they come or not is their choice. Until you are consciously prepared, such strengths can also become disasters, it's like handing a knife to a child who has just learned to stand up by her. If your priority is only the Mother, such forces will not increase arrogance, rather they will be useful in achieving divine realization.
The goal of human life is Moksha (Liberation). Liberation is not to go somewhere after death. It is attaining permanent Bliss, here, in this life itself. The real siddhi is indeed Liberation, which is the culmination of all our उपासना (upasana, spiritual practices). Being pleased with the उपासक (upasaka), Mother blesses him/her with Moksha.
Siddhidatri Devi is the universal mother, all complete and powerful of herself. Because he supports everything and everyone, of course everyone bowed down at his feet. Mother never discriminates between her children, therefore Ma Siddhidatri sees all her devotees as equal. A beautiful quality to learn from her, if today the world abandons mutual differences and realizes its universal identity, surely theirs will be peace and harmony everywhere.
Ma Durga removes ignorance and she provides the knowledge to realize That or Brahman. That is why She is surrounded by Siddhas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Demons and Gods who are worshiping her. The Siddhi that she provides is the realization that everything is Supreme Being or Brahman. If a “sadhaka” worships in the prescribed manner with his full faith he acquires all “Siddhis” and nothing remains unattainable from him in the universe.
Galactic chakra/ brahmand chakra - is shakti of maa siddharth the Goddess of supreme powers and in tantra the Goddess Bhuvaneshwari; The Goddess of universe; The creator of life force. If a sadhak perform sadhana of maa siddharthi / maa bhuvaneshvari he/she awaken Galactic chakra.
As a reminder of the process, first we became inspired (Shailaputri Devi) to learn the sacred scriptures (Brahmacharini Devi), and to practice sadhana (Chandraghanta Devi) in an effort to purify ourselves in such a way that all of our actions become tapasya (Kushmanda Devi). Upon performing tapasya, support comes our way to nurture our divinity (Skandamata Devi), so that we are enabled to experience the purity of our true nature (Katyayani Devi). Then, at the right time in our spiritual journey, when we are ripened and ready, our selfish ego is destroyed (Kalaratri Devi) and replaced with radiant divine light (Mahagauri Devi). Finally, when our minds are completely matured, and we are ready to shoulder additional responsibilities, we experience perfection (Siddhidatri Devi). When we reach the ninth step, our responsibilities naturally increase. Up until now we have been solely focused on elevating ourselves on the spiritual path. With the blessings of perfection, we are now called upon and compelled to help others in the same way that we have been helped.
On the final day of Navaratri, chant her mantra and ask Her for an attainment that will help you on your path, be it the removal of a negative tendency like anger or fear, or the addition of a positive quality, like more compassion and humility. May Siddhidāyinī (the giver of perfection) who is always served by masters (siddhas), celestial musicians (gandharvas), tree spirits (yakṣas), demons, and gods, grant us with perfection in all we do!
