Gaṇapati Atharvaśīrṣa / Gaṇapati Upaniṣat
is a late Vedic text, asserts that Ganeśa is the ultimate reality, Brahman. The beauty of this Upaniṣad is in its vivid and powerful description of Lord Gaṇapati (Ganeśa) as the primordial sound Oṃ.
“The entire universe originates from you,
The entire universe is sustained by you,
The entire universe (finally) dissolves in you
The entire universe merges in you”
“You are the earth, water, fire, air and space (5 elements)
You are the 4 levels of speech”
There is endless beauty and power in this mantra!
The Gaṇapati Upaniṣat, also known as the Gaṇapati Atharvaśīrṣam is an excerpt from the Atharva Veda and honours Gaṇapati as the one supreme Truth. It is a powerful mantra to recite and is popularly chanted in India in temples and during festivals worshipping the beloved elephant headed God of beginnings. This hymn includes the famous Gaṇapati Gāyatrī mantra, a prayer to be guided on the right path in our journey to our true self as well as the very popular Oṃ gaṃ gaṇapataye namaḥ japa mantra.
***
Kogu universum on sinu ülalpidamisel,
Kogu universum (lõpuks) lahustub sinus
Kogu universum sulandub sinusse”
